Incredible RARE Antique Georgian 18K Large Pan Paste wax seal ring. This is such a unique treasure, I have never seen another! The large centre frosted paste seal depicts a stunningly detailed carved Pan playing a flute, the tiny hair details and face are amazing! Pan is the ancient Greek god of the wild, shepherds, flocks, rustic music, and fertility, often depicted as a satyr with the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat. Hailing from Arcadia, he embodies untamed nature, sexuality, and the origin of the word “panic” representing both the serene and chaotic, untamed aspects of the natural world. Paste Is set in a lovely bezel setting atop spilt shank side. Weighs a heavy 7 grams. Ring face is 23 x 16 mm. Band is 3 mm. In perfect Antique condition with a few tiny scratches to the gold border, consistent with its old age. Size O AU or 7 US. Can be resized by my jeweller. Stamped 18CT, tested 18CT.
